Motor City’s storied Movement Electronic Music Festival<\/a> is getting a boost of endorphins over Memorial Day Weekend with the launch of the “Detroit Techno 5k,” a new event blending running with techno.<\/p>\n

Scheduled for Sunday, May 25th, the 75-minute run will take participants along the scenic Detroit River and through the historic grounds of Fort Wayne. As the first-ever fitness-focused event tied to Movement, it\u2019s both a race and a celebration of techno culture in the genre’s birthplace.<\/p>\n

The event is being organized by longtime runners and friends Harrison Diskin and Zac Berlin,\u00a0who worked closely with Movement and the city of Detroit to secure permits, according to\u00a0The Jewish News<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0Diskin, a\u00a0veteran event producer in Detroit and Chicago, is also an avid runner who found that staying out late for shows began to take a toll on his body.<\/p>\n

“When we take care of our bodies and our minds, it makes a lot of the late nights more enjoyable and a lot more accessible,” he said. “As attendees are maturing, there’s a growing interest in health and wellness that\u2019s really starting to resonate.”<\/p>\n

That mind-body connection is at the heart of the race, which invites participants of all skill levels to run, walk or just warm up ahead of a long day at Movement, the nation’s leading techno festival. Open to all fitness levels, the 3.1-mile course will conclude with an afterparty featuring a DJ set by renowned house music producer Will Clarke<\/a>. After crossing the finish line, participants can refuel with local favorites like Dutch Girl Donuts and The Schvitz before heading straight to Movement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
